India Tourist Visa

• Visa Required • Submit your valid Passport, must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least two blank visa page • 1 Fully Completed and Signed ONLINE Application Form must be sent. Click Here For the Online India Visa Application Form (Citizens or former citizens of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, please refer to the Notes Section in the bottom to complete additional applications) • Copy of Birth Certificate. A photocopy of the birth certificate or any government issued document that shows parents name, date of birth and nationality. Depending on your nationality at birth, these are the documents that are accepted. ◦US Born: Only birth certificates are accepted for applicants born in the US. ◦Indian Born: Those born in India can use their birth certificate, old Indian passport or school leaving certificate. ◦All Others: Those not born in the US or India should submit a birth certificate or any government document from the country of origin that has parents name, date of birth and nationality. Must be translated into English and notarized. • 2 Passport Photograph. Applicant should not be wearing any type of eye glasses. • For Non - US Citizens: A copy of Green Card or Legal Status in United States Should also be Submitted • Proof of Address: a Copy of Valid State ID or Drivers should be submitted. If the address does not match or is a PO Box, a copy of the Utility Bill (water, electricity, and gas) is also needed. • Copy of Airline Tickets or copy of Travel Itinerary (Houston jurisdiction only) • Other Requirements: Persons of Indian Origin applying for a visa for the FIRST time on any US passport must submit their Indian passport and a completed Renunciation Form. Persons of Indian Origin who have held an Indian visa in a previous US passport must submit the expired/cancelled US passport. • Special Instructions: Indian tourist visas allow multiple entries into the country, however, there must be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to the country on a Tourist Visa. Applicants seeking permission to enter India multiple times within two months must submit the following Letter of Request: A letter addressed to the appropriate Indian Consulate seeking permission and highlighting the urgency of the visit. The letter should also provide a detailed explanation of the reason for visiting more than once within two months, the purpose of journey and the expected dates of travel. The specific purpose of visit must be clearly indicated, for example: for recreation/sight seeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives/others (to be specified). Re-Entry Exemption Form: Completed and signed by the applicant. Please Note: Re-entry permission is granted on only very rare, urgent cases. • Other Requirements: Indian citizens acquiring US (foreign) citizenship and renouncing Indian citizenship are required to surrender their Indian passports and obtain a “Surrender Certificate” which is issued by the Consulate. The charges for obtaining this service is US$ 175/-. These passports are cancelled and returned to the passport holder for future reference. This Surrender Certificate is a requirement for applying for a visas, PIO, and OCI, and must be obtained directly from the consulate. This Surrender Certificate must then be submitted along with two (2) completed and signed Renunciation of India Citizenship Forms in order to obtain a visa. India Business Visa
